Well-being and Regeneration in One

Do you sometimes feel physically and mentally drained? Would you like to feel more alert again, face the demands of everyday life with greater serenity, and go through the day with a clear view of the small joys?

Then try an Ayurvedic revitalization weekend according to Dr. Schrott. – Conveniently at home, without travel or additional accommodation costs. In his book "Ayurveda for Every Day" , Dr. med. Schrott describes how you can complete a full Ayurvedic fitness and regeneration program in just one weekend – for the well-being of body and mind.

And this is how your Ayurvedic weekend works:

A few tips beforehand

  • Prepare your Ayurveda weekend calmly. Then you can look forward to your weekend already during meal planning and your shopping.
  • Ayurvedic classics like breathing exercises, yoga asanas, and morning oil pulling (Gandusha) are your constant companions this weekend. If you like, you can familiarize yourself with these beforehand.
  • Make sure that no obligations await you this weekend. After all, you should be able to follow your inner needs completely during your personal fitness and regeneration weekend.
  • Approach your Ayurveda weekend in a relaxed manner. Even if you don't implement all suggestions perfectly, you will noticeably benefit from this weekend.
  • Let your joy guide and inspire you in all activities.

Friday – calming down

After a whole week's routine, a shower or bath will help you relax. Perhaps you'll even treat yourself to a beautiful bouquet of flowers to invigorate your senses and accompany you through your Ayurvedic weekend.

Completely relax

Now take fifteen minutes for simple yoga body and breathing exercises that can help you release blockages and tensions and improve mind-body coordination.

If you wish, you can round off this program with Transcendental Meditation. This will give you deep calm and new energy. When practiced regularly, it has been shown to promote your health (more information at www.meditation.de)

Light dinner

How about a light watercress soup for your first evening? You can find the recipe here , but the soup should be prepared without crème fraîche in the evening. A light vegetable dish or vegetable soup optimally supports your internal cleansing. Hot water, Vata tea, or mild herbal tea are particularly suitable as drinks for dinner. These can be sipped with each meal.

To strengthen your Agni ("digestive fire"), it's best to choose a small digestive drink (pancha) tailored to your Dosha type, which you take fifteen minutes before each meal:

  • Vata type: ginger juice with raw cane sugar, a little salt and lemon
  • Pitta type: thin tea made from fresh ginger with a little raw cane sugar
  • Kapha type: ginger juice with honey

Not sure which Ayurvedic Dosha type you are? Our Dosha test will help you find out.

Winding down the evening

Now let your first evening draw to a close, for example, with a short digestive walk or a relaxing full bath, before going to bed during the evening Kapha phase (until 10 p.m.). Gentle music and an aroma lamp with Vata essential oil will help you relax even more easily and find sleep.

To prepare for the cleansing of the coming day, take a mildly laxative drink before bed, consisting of

  • 1 tablespoon of castor oil
  • some water
  • 1 dash of lemon juice
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • some ginger powder.

Saturday – Cleansing

It's best to start your second day early – ideally before 6 a.m. in the morning Vata period. Today, cleansing and detoxification are in the foreground. You can best support this by drinking a glass of room-temperature water after getting up – followed by a glass of water with lemon. As part of your Ayurvedic morning hygiene, first clean your tongue with a tongue scraper. Two to three minutes of oil pulling with matured sesame oil (Gandusha) also contributes to cleansing. The matured sesame oil is also particularly well absorbed by the skin and is therefore also ideal for your subsequent 10 to 20-minute self-massage . Massage the oil, warmed to body temperature, into your skin. Enjoy the pleasant feeling! After a hot bath or shower, you can calmly dedicate yourself to the yoga and breathing exercises you became familiar with the day before. You can find more about the Ayurvedic morning routine here .

The right breakfast for your Dosha type

You support your internal cleansing with a particularly light breakfast tailored to your Dosha type.

  • Vata type: soaked almonds or dried fruit; alternatively, spelt porridge – briefly boil spelt with water or milk, refine with maple syrup, cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and turmeric
  • Pitta type: a glass of lukewarm water with a little honey or some fruit
  • Kapha type: only hot water, possibly supplemented with diluted, fresh juices or some fruit

Promoting elimination in the morning

An extended walk and light exercise stimulate metabolism and facilitate elimination. Feel free to enjoy a sauna visit to stimulate excretion through your skin. Your Dosha type will reveal which sauna suits you best:

  • Vata and Pitta: rather moist heat, e.g., as a steam bath or with infusions
  • Kapha: dry sauna

Lunch

For lunch, we recommend a light rice soup and a lassi. Depending on your appetite, you can also have some dry bread (toast, crispbread). After a rest period, during which you should not sleep, a digestive walk follows.

Relaxation in the afternoon and evening

In the afternoon, you'll have plenty of time for light exercise and relaxation. Do what brings you joy: read or pursue a hobby. If you haven't been to the sauna in the morning, you can do so now. For dinner, prepare a light rice soup, lassi, and possibly bread, just like lunch. A subsequent digestive walk stimulates metabolism and awakens your spirits. In the evening, treat yourself to a face mask tailored to your skin type. Depending on your skin type, gently remove it after 10 to 20 minutes with a cotton pad soaked in almond oil. After a cleansing day like Saturday, your skin will absorb the nourishing ingredients of the face mask particularly well and can regenerate wonderfully overnight.

Sunday – Regeneration

This day also begins with the Ayurvedic morning routine, including a morning drink, oral hygiene, breathing exercises, yoga asanas, and Ayurvedic self-massage. These get your circulation going, invigorate you, and make you fresh for the day.

Strengthening breakfast

Sunday is dedicated to building strength and regeneration. Accordingly, your breakfast can be a bit more substantial today. You can also make your morning activities more intense today. Perhaps you fancy hiking or want to go on a short excursion?

Lunch – Your Feast Menu

If you'd like to host guests on your Ayurvedic weekend, now is the perfect opportunity. Spoil yourself and your guests with an Ayurvedic feast menu!

  • Aperitif: ginger water tailored to your Dosha type

For the main course, you have a choice between

  • Main course 1: Basmati rice and asparagus-zucchini vegetables with basil sauce, served with some Mung Dal. Outside the season, you can, of course, prepare the vegetables without asparagus.
  • Main course 2: Pineapple rice with eggplant-tomato purée and red lentil dal

Your menu is rounded off by

  • Lassi with the main course
  • Fig and cream dessert
  • Chai tea with dessert

Enjoy the afternoon

Dedicate the afternoon to yourself again. After a leisurely walk, immerse yourself in the things that bring you joy.

Dinner

For dinner, have a light rice or vegetable soup again. After a short relaxation break, enjoy the fresh air during a leisurely evening walk.

A crowning conclusion

Really savor the last evening of your Ayurvedic weekend. Listen to relaxing music or calmly read a good book. Spoil yourself with a foot massage using warm, matured sesame oil. Surrounded by the scent of a Vata aroma oil, you should now easily find restful sleep.
