Ayurvedic Rasayanas – The Power of Nature for Inner Balance

It was in the early 1980s that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the great scholar of the Veda, gathered around him the most prominent Ayurvedic experts in India at the time, as well as Western doctors and scientists. Among them were Ayurvedic luminaries Dr. B. D. Triguna, then president of the All India Ayurvedic Congress, Dr. Balraj Maharshi, India's foremost expert on the plant world, and Dr. Dwiwedi, the most renowned expert on Ayurvedic mineral products. During their deliberations on the goal of reconstructing, reconnecting, and making the knowledge of Ayurveda usable again, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi inspired the assembly with the formulation of a grand vision: to exploit the reach of Ayurveda for "creating a disease-free society" and to turn to an important part of the Ayurvedic scriptures for this purpose – the Rasayanas.

The time-tested knowledge of the correct composition and preparation of food supplements is a great achievement that distinguishes Ayurveda from almost all other health systems. It is based on the understanding of how plants, herbs, and minerals can be combined to reinforce each other and maximize their positive properties.

Benefits of Ayurvedic Rasayanas

According to Ayurvedic texts, Rasayanas are herbal and mineral mixtures intended to help:

  • maintain the original order of the organism,
  • preserve youthfulness and halt or reverse the aging process,
  • strengthen the immune system,
  • become more resistant to harmful influences.

Rasayanas aim for the holistic balance of the Doshas and support the formation of Ojas. Ayurveda defines Ojas as the finest body matter, the subtle link to consciousness. Strong Ojas promotes, among other things, longevity, physical strength, a vital, attractive radiance, and a happy outlook on life.
