Approaches of Maharishi Ayurveda
Maharishi Ayurveda Approaches: Services & Offerings
Maharishi Ayurveda recommendations aim for holistic health. We present some of the 20 approaches on this page.
The Ayurvedic Cleansing Cure
1. Panchakarma
In Ayurveda, Panchakarma refers to a precisely coordinated sequence of physical treatments. The therapy specifically aims to gently and permanently cleanse the body of toxins and metabolic waste and restore its harmonious balance. Panchakarma is used both for treating illnesses and for prevention and increasing well-being.
2. Ayurvedic Pulse Diagnosis
In traditional Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis, the pulse is felt with three fingers, and any disturbances or imbalances in the interplay of the doshas can be identified. Ayurveda offers many measures that can help balance an identified dosha imbalance.

Physical and Breathing Exercises
1. Yoga Asanas
Yoga asanas are individual physical postures that are assumed one after another in a step-by-step manner. It is very important to maintain a relaxed posture—asana roughly means “comfortable posture”—and to avoid straining while performing them. The goal is to balance the various forces within the body, which often work in opposition, and bring them into harmony. By establishing a deeper connection with one’s own body, one can consciously perceive the free flow of energy and feel the release of blockages. Each individual posture stimulates specific energies within the mind-body system. When one effortlessly directs one’s attention there, that part of the body is energized. On a physical level, the asanas have a positive effect on the brain, the endocrine and nervous systems, and massage the internal organs. A particularly pleasant effect is increased flexibility and endurance, without feeling exhausted after the exercises. On an emotional level, the exercises balance mood swings and calm the mind.
2. Pranayama—Balanced Breathing
Pranayama is a simple breathing technique that calms the mind—especially before meditation—and puts the body into a relaxed state. It creates coherence between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. At the same time, energy reserves are activated, leaving you feeling physically light and mentally clear.
Mindfulness Techniques
1. Transcendental Meditation
naturally induces a unique state of profound physical relaxation and calm. At the same time, the mind remains fully alert. Consciousness rests within itself. Stress and tension are released. Mind and body find peace and replenish their energy. The technique is so simple that it can be practiced anywhere and at any time—at home, at the office, even on an airplane or train.
2. Transcendental Meditation Improves Health
Over 600 scientific studies conducted over the past 30 years at more than 200 universities and research institutes in 27 countries around the world confirm the remarkable effects of Transcendental Meditation (TM). This makes TM the only consciousness technique that has been so extensively studied scientifically for its positive effects.

Vedic Sound and Music Therapies
1. Maharishi Gandharva Veda
The melodies of Gandharva Veda music share the same origin as our body and mind, just like everything in nature. They express the universal resonance and vibration that, according to Ayurvedic knowledge, underlies all of creation.
The Rishis, or Vedic sages of India, recognized these fundamental vibrations of nature thousands of years ago. According to the Rishis, these vibrations change every three hours. Therefore, there is a specific melody, or raga, for each of these three-hour periods, known as praharas. Some ragas can be listened to at any time of day.
Listening to the Maharishi Gandharva Veda melodies helps create a sense of inner balance and harmony. The closer the body and mind are in harmony with the rhythms of nature, the greater the sense of well-being.
Vedic Astrology
2. Jyotish
Jyotish (pronounced “Jyotish,” from “jyoti,” Sanskrit for “light”) is the astrology of the advanced Vedic civilization. Since, according to Ayurvedic philosophy, everything influences one another and the same universal intelligence—which also guides us humans—is reflected on both the micro and macro levels, one can draw conclusions from the constellations at the time of birth about the events that will shape each individual’s life.
Vedic Architecture
3. Maharishi Sthapatya Veda
“Since individual life is cosmic, everything in individual life should be in complete harmony with cosmic life.” “Maharishi Sthapatya Veda provides buildings with dimensions, formulas, and orientations that offer the individual cosmic harmony and support for peace, prosperity, and good health—daily life in harmony with the laws of nature, daily life in the direction of evolution.” — Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Maharishi Sthapatya Veda is the Vedic science of healthy building and living. By designing our environment in harmony with universal forces, all energies enrich one another and promote spiritual and material well-being.
