Ayurvedic "Iced" Tea

date 2026 June 12

Simple & delicious: the Ayurvedic “iced” tea by Heide Maria Vendler from Austria. The base is the delicate and mild Maharishi Ayurveda Pitta Tea, which has a pleasantly cooling effect on hot summer days. Rounded off with the fruity, sweet aroma of elderflower syrup and the fresh, tangy flavour of lemon and ginger, this Ayurvedic “iced” tea is delicious not only on hot days.

Although iced tea is traditionally served cold, Ayurveda recommends avoiding ice-cold drinks even on very hot days so as not to weaken the digestive fire. Enjoy our Ayurvedic “iced” tea accordingly, cooled to room temperature.

Preparation
Cut the lemon into slices. Place the tea bag, lemon slices, ginger slices and cinnamon stick in a heatproof jug. Pour over the boiling water and leave to infuse for 30 minutes. Strain the tea, sweeten to taste with elderflower syrup and serve warm or at room temperature, as desired. Your refreshing Ayurvedic “iced” tea is ready!

Our serving tip
Before filling the glasses, briefly dip the rim of each glass into a little lemon juice, allow any excess to drip off if necessary, then dip it into the sugar spread out on a plate. This works particularly well using saucers filled to a depth of 1 to 2 mm with lemon juice and sugar respectively.
Finally, make a small cut halfway through 1 or 2 lemon slices and place them on the rim of the glass.

  • 2 slices of fresh ginger
