March marks the beginning of spring and, with it, the Kapha season, which lasts until the end of June. It is a time of the first warm rays of sunshine and magnificent colors, and soon, of fresh herbs, vegetables, and fruits that enrich our cooking.
To successfully maintain dosha balance as the seasons change, Ayurveda experts recommend light yet well-spiced meals during the Kapha season to boost digestive power. Hot, spicy, and well-cooked dishes as well as soups and green vegetables are also particularly recommended at this time.
The latest creation from our Ayurvedic chef, Heide Maria Vendler, shows you how to support your dosha balance with the right foods while delighting your palate, body, and soul allowing you to effortlessly conjure up a menu perfectly tailored to spring.

This curry, apple and celery soup is just the thing during the Kapha season. Tart apples and ginger give it a delicately tangy, spicy and savoury flavour. We recommend enjoying this creamy soup as a midday meal, particularly for Kapha types, and as a source of warmth during the Kapha season.
A dessert for your summer guests
Fresh fruit is always healthy and delicious, but light, fruity treats are especially popular on warm days. With our dessert suggestion, you can serve your summer guests a unique treat—one that can also be served as a first course. According to Ayurveda, dishes with a predominantly sweet taste can be served at the beginning of the meal when *Agni* (digestive fire) is strong. Ayurvedic principles hold that "sweet" foods require more digestive power than salty, sour, pungent, bitter, or astringent ones. Incidentally, a complete Ayurvedic menu ideally includes all six tastes. You can also use our popular spice blends for cooking or for adding extra flavor at the table.
A fruity, spicy punch to give you that lovely, warm feeling on cold days. A real treat, especially after a long walk in the crisp winter air or during a cosy get-together with friends and family.
With fresh juices and two ‘superstars’ of Ayurvedic cuisine: cinnamon and cloves. Both are known for their wide range of beneficial effects. Scientific studies show, for example, that cloves are among the best natural antioxidants, whilst cinnamon strengthens the digestive fire, Agni.
So our winter punch isn’t just delicious – it also helps to boost your wellbeing.
